Novel to Film
How is a novel translated into a script and then interpreted as a film scene? What choices do the screenwriter and the director make? What do they choose to include, what do they choose to delete and what do they adapt, and how?
Masterpiece Theatre's The Forsyte Saga, Series II is based upon the third book in John Galsworthy's family epic: To Let (1921). In this scene, which takes place at the beginning of the novel and early into the first episode of the film, Soames and his daughter Fleur encounter Irene and her son Jon at June's art gallery.
