Bertie and Elizabeth
Thank you for this wonderful program, although I would have loved for it to be longer. You did a wonderful job getting everything in. I think this is a great production and congratulate all the actors.
And contrary to some earlier posters' assertions, the program seems to be quite accurate in regards to events, and the personality of the Queen Mum, at least as portrayed in the press of the time. Further, while someone complained about Queen Mary's hair being down on her neck, this was a scene of her being at home with family. As any woman knows, we don't necessarily dress or do our hair the same way when we're at home and when we're going out where we might be photographed.
P.S. In response to an earlier poster's question, the "poem" Bertie paraphrases to Elizabeth is actually Shylock's speech from Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice, I believe.

Bertie and Elizabeth is the most enchanting film I have yet seen from Masterpiece Theatre! Every time it is broadcast, I fall more in love with it. The casting is excellent. Please broadcast this lovely film more often!

A lovely story. The royal family, although not totally without human fault, has been a wonderful inspiration. Without them, our world would have been a less brilliant and noble realm. Might I ask what was the poem that Bertie mis-quoted when he asked Elizabeth for her hand?
I truly enjoyed Bertie and Elizabeth; my only complaint is I didn't want it to end.
Hiya, I am Naomi's (young Elizabeth) friend. Kelly, Charlotte and myself are three of Naomi's friends at Wyedean school. We can't wait until Bertie and Elizabeth comes on to tv here in the UK. We have enjoyed viewing the preview on this great website!
