The Forsyte Saga, Series II
updated 5.26.2004

Dear Masterpiece Theatre,
Having seen and loved the original production of The Forsyte Saga, I was prepared to be disappointed in the new version. However, I was most pleasantly surprised. Other than Gina McKee, who did not seem to me to be powerful enough to convey the charismatic hold her character had on those in her life, I found the rest of the cast to be flawless. I loved every episode of both Series 1 and Series 2. Prime Suspect did not disappoint either. I felt it still had freshness, even though it was the sixth in the series.

Dear Masterpiece Theatre,
I have been waiting for the continuation of PBS's modern portrayal of John Galsworthy's exquisite novel. I want to purchase the DVD set of The Forsyte Saga Series II; I was away in South Africa and missed it when it aired. Will you air it again? Soames and Irene are superb! I have secured the 1967 black and white version. Please, please bring this saga to life on screen, and on DVD. Thank you!

The Forsyte Saga, both Series I and Series II, are available on tape and on DVD from WGBH Shop.

Dear Masterpiece Theatre,
Although every series on Masterpiece Theatre has been nothing less than wonderful, The Forsyte Saga is absolutely the greatest ever! I have seen it several times and have also read the book. I think the screen adaptation is brilliant; John Galsworthy would be proud. Soames and Irene were perfectly portrayed by Damian Lewis and Gina McKee. Are there future plans for a Series III? I certainly hope so!
