The Song of the Lark
For me, the caliber of a novel or movie is how I feel at the end. When Song of the Lark concluded on PBS, I found myself saying, "No, no, don't end it yet!" I became completely wrapped up in Thea's struggle to express herself through music and the loving efforts of others to encourage and support her. I thought Allison Elliot was marvelous as Thea, and the other actors were also very effective in their roles. The music, the sets and the outdoor scenes -- especially the scenes set in Arizona -- all contributed to the excellence of this production. I was so enamored of this film, I purchased a copy and have viewed it several times.
