Who's Who

Louisa Clein

Zelda is Jewish, but does her best to hide the fact once the Germans arrive. She got a job as a nanny with a family in Guildford and came to St Gregory with them for a holiday in 1939. Whilst they were there, England closed her frontiers to German nationals leaving her a prisoner on the island. Mr. Isaaks, the owner of the photography shop, befriended her and gave her a job. Zelda is a confident and attractive young woman who finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Louisa Clein trained at the Drama Centre in London. She made her professional debut on stage as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Arcola Theatre. Other theater credits include Isabel in My Children! My Africa! and Hilde Wangel in The Lady from the Sea. She is best known for her role as Charlie Deed in three series of Judge John Deed for the BBC.
