Fred and Rosemary West
In February of 1994, the Gloucester, England, police began digging up the garden of Fred West. They were searching for the body of his daughter Heather, who had disappeared several years earlier. They found her, and many more young victims. Over a period of about twenty years Fred and his wife Rose had abducted, tortured, raped and murdered an unknown number of girls. Many lay buried in the West's own garden. All this had happened in a large town and with neighbors living close by. Frederick West committed suicide while in custody. Rosemary West was convicted on 10 counts of murder and sentenced, in November of 1995, to life imprisonment.
