Russell's electric fence thwarts an intruder
"I got the idea of an electrified fence from my time in Papua New Guinea. I was there for a couple years in the mid-seventies. My neighborhood, in the capital of Port Moresby, was plagued by break ins. These were not subtle. The usual method of entry was an axe through our thin walls. A neighbor took the desperate measure of encircling his property with a sixteen-foot high wire mesh fence. Then he plugged the mesh into the mains. The neighborhood persuaded him to disconnect the juice. He reluctantly complied. He was burgled within a week. Cleaned out. They even took the fence."
