The Story Behind the Story ...Where exactly did the story come from? "Years and years ago, I read one sentence in a general history book about Prince John," explains Poliakoff. "The idea lay dormant at the back of my mind until I saw a huge photograph of Prince John staring out of the newspaper. I quickly discovered that there was practically nothing published about him, most royal biographies confining themselves to a few sentences about the poor epileptic and autistic prince who had to be sheltered away... For me, the truly haunting fact was that his short life encapsulated such a fascinating period of history... " The Cast Comments "... Mary loved Johnnie as fully as she could. She knew that he was a free spirit who was able to be himself. Mary could never be herself because she was always so serious, dedicated, dutiful and aware of her destiny. In the end, Mary's relationship with Johnnie was constrained by the prevailing circumstances. At that time, doctors were viewed as gods, and when they said Johnnie had to be shut away, Mary felt she simply had to obey their orders... " Locations ...Witanhurst is London's second largest privately owned stately home (the Queen lives in the largest, Buckingham Palace). Set on 5.5 acres atop Highgate Hill, the spectacular £35 million 65-room estate has hosted both royalty and musical virtuosos since it was completed in the early 1920's... Music ...All original music heard in The Lost Prince was composed by Adrian Johnston and performed by session musicians for Orchestra Di Roma and Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra...
