  • Wallander Receives Two Primetime Emmy Award Nominations

    Masterpiece mystery's new detective series featuring Swedish sleuth Kurt Wallander was honored by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences with two nominations for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards. Kenneth Branagh was recognized in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie category, while Philip Martin was nominated in the Outstanding Directing For a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special. This Season on MASTERPIECE MYSTERY!

Kenneth Branagh stars as a scruffy Swedish sleuth in three episodes of Wallander. David Suchet reprises his role as Hercule Poirot in two new episodes and Julia McKenzie takes over as Miss Marple for four new episodes in Six by Agatha. Kevin Whately returns in seven new episodes of Inspector Lewis.

    Wallander
    Kenneth Branagh stars as complex detective Kurt Wallander, fighting crime and his own demons. Based on the books by best-selling Swedish author Henning Mankell, Wallander was filmed in rarely seen locations in southern Sweden.

    Hercule Poirot: Series IX
    David Suchet reprises his role as suave Hercule Poirot in two new episodes. Suchet's varied roles have included financier Augustus Melmotte in Masterpiece's The Way We Live Now and Cardinal Wolsey in Henry VIII. He was recently seen in the feature film The Bank Job.

    Miss Marple: Series IV
    One of Agatha Christie's signature characters returns to the schedule, with Julia McKenzie taking over the role of spinster sleuth Miss Marple in three new episodes. McKenzie is familiar to Masterpiece fans for her recent performance in Cranford as Mrs. Forrester, the sprightly widow devoted to her cow.

    Inspector Lewis: Series II
    Robbie Lewis (Kevin Whately, The English Patient), sidekick to Inspector Morse, is back in seven new episodes. Now well outside Morse's shadow, Lewis has a younger sidekick of his own, the ambitious Hathaway (Laurence Fox, Gosford Park).
