Head of Display
Agnes Towler is un naïf (as she was dubbed by Henri Leclair) no more. Sophisticated, composed, and grown up, Agnes returns from a two-year stint in Paris, subsidized by Harry Selfridge, as Head of Display across all of Selfridges' departments. Agnes has blossomed into an independent career girl confident in her talent. But her personal confidence is undermined by the frosty greeting of her old flame Victor; by the spiteful disdain of the new Head of Fashion, Mr. Thackeray; and by the eagerness of her beloved brother, George, to rush off to fight in the war. Agnes has returned to Selfridges changed and stronger, but she'll need that strength as life – and love – put her to the test.
