Congratulations to Wolf Hall, 2016 Peabody Award winner!

Tony® Award-winning actor Mark Rylance (Twelfth Night) stars as Thomas Cromwell in Wolf Hall, the 2016 Golden Globe® winner for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

"Wolf Hall is a masterpiece of a novel, and a masterpiece of a mini-series. Congratulations to our partners at Playground Entertainment, and many thanks to the Peabody Committee," said MASTERPIECE Executive Producer Rebecca Eaton.

“I am thrilled that Wolf Hall has been honored with the George Foster Peabody Award," noted Wolf Hall Executive Producer Colin Callender. Hilary Mantel’s award-winning novels, Peter Straughan’s brilliant scripts, Peter Kosminsky’s masterful direction, Mark Rylance’s inspiring performance and a brilliant production team all came together to bring to the screen a compelling portrait of Henry VIII’s closest advisor Thomas Cromwell - a complicated and enigmatic historical character who navigates the moral complexities that accompany the exercise of power - trapped between his desire to do what is right and his instinct to survive. We set out to tell an historical drama about politics, power, loyalty and betrayal that would feel relevant to a modern audience and we are delighted that the esteemed judges have recognized our work.”

The six-part series follows the back-room dealings of this accomplished power broker, from humble beginnings, who must survive deadly political intrigue.

Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award-winner Damian Lewis (Homeland) plays a young King Henry VIII in the throes of a tempestuous relationship with Anne Boleyn (Claire Foy, Little Dorrit), and ruling an England on the brink of monumental religious upheaval.
