Mrs. Wilson Casting News

STAR CAST JOIN RUTH WILSON DRAMA FOR BBC AND MASTERPIECE on PBS

IAIN GLEN, KEELEY HAWES, ANUPAM KHER AND FIONA SHAW BOARD MRS. WILSON

April 17, 2018—Golden Globe®-winning actress Ruth Wilson (The Affair, Luther) is set to lead an all-star cast in Mrs. Wilson, a new original drama for BBC and MASTERPIECE, inspired by the memoir of Wilson’s own grandmother about her family’s complicated history. The series follows Alison Wilson (Ruth Wilson), who thinks she is happily married until her husband Alec dies and a woman turns up on her doorstep claiming that she is the real Mrs. Wilson.

Wilson will star alongside Iain Glen (Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey), Keeley Hawes (The Durrells in Corfu, The Hollow Crown), Anupam Kher (Silver Linings Playbook, The Big Sick) and Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve, Harry Potter) in the three-part drama.

“What a fabulous group of actors to bring Ruth Wilson’s grandmother’s story to life!” says MASTERPIECE Executive Producer Rebecca Eaton at WGBH Boston.

Wilson’s grandfather Alexander Wilson, played by Glen, was a writer, spy and secret service officer who served in the First World War before moving to India to teach as a Professor of English Literature, where he began a career as a successful writer of spy novels.

Mrs. Wilson is written by Anna Symon (Indian Summers), directed by Richard Laxton (Mum, Him & Her) and produced by Jackie Larkin (Little Women). Executive producers are Ruth Wilson, Ruth Kenley-Letts (The Casual VacancyThe Tunnel), Neil Blair (The Casual Vacancy), Lucy Richer for the BBC and Rebecca Eaton for MASTERPIECE.

The production began shooting on April 16, 2018 in Northern Ireland and London.

Mrs. Wilson is a BBC/MASTERPIECE co-production. all3Media international is handling the international rights.
