The Most Beautiful Girl
Bass player Adamson started out with a band called Magazine which had a series of well-received singles and albums in the late '70s and early '80s. The band dissolved in 1981 and Adamson joined Nick Cave's Bad Seeds. He set out in 1987 to pursue a solo career. His first album, Moss Side Story (the soundtrack to an imaginary film), led to commissions creating real soundtracks for films including Gas Food Lodging and Delusion. His 1992 album, Soul Murder, was nominated for the Mercury Prize.
Adamson's music, always experimental, atmospheric and hard to define (sometimes jazzy, funky, hip-hop, moody, soulful bebop-ish) continues to evolve.
