Congratulations to Tatyana McFadden, who won the London Marathon just six days after winning Boston. McFadden had said she would compete with the victims of the Boston bombings "in her heart." She set a new course record with an unofficial time of 1hr 46mins 02secs. And Happy Birthday, too - today is Tatyana's 24th!
Tatyana McFadden seems slightly shocked at the suggestion that she would ever have considered not travelling to compete — alongside 36,000 others — in the London Marathon.

To ensure competition is fair and equal, all Paralympic sports have a system in place which ensures that winning is determined by skill, fitness, power, endurance, tactical ability and mental focus, the same factors that account for success in sport for able bodied athletes.
