Locations

Tourism in and around Oxford, England, has received a boost from the Morse and Lewis films. International and domestic visitors flock to see key sites featured in the dramas which have been broadcast in over 120 countries across the world.

Inspector Lewis was filmed in the region during the summer of 2005. Some specific locations included:

  • Boatyard, Christ Church Meadow
  • Botanic Gardens, High Street
  • Island Quad, Oriel College, Oriel Square
  • Oriel Square
  • Wadham College, Parks Road


Gaddesden Place, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, as the Griffon family home
  • Gaddesden Place, an 18th century Palladian style villa, was designed by the celebrated architect James Wyatt for the Halsey family and built between 1768 and 1773
The Experimental Techniques Centre, Brunel University, Uxbridge, Middlesex, as the 'Pretorious Laing Institute'
