The Moving Finger
Airing Sundays, July 9 + 16, 2006 on PBS
(Check local listings; dates and times may vary)

After a serious motorcycle accident, the dashing Jerry Burton arrives in the sleepy village of Lymstock with his sister Joanna to recuperate. Their expectations of peace and quiet are quickly dashed when they discover a poison pen-writer is at large in the village.

When the neurotic Mrs. Symmington commits suicide as a result of one of the letters, the finger of suspicion begins to sweep around the colorful community. A guest of the village minister and his wife thinks there is more to the tragic death than meets the eye. Miss Marple has been staying at the vicarage since the funeral of Colonel Appleton -- another suicide victim of the poison pen letters. Together, Miss Marple and Jerry set out to stop the malicious messages before they result in yet another tragedy. Little do they know that they will ultimately unveil a murderer...

Christie herself, in her autobiography, cited The Moving Finger as one of the stories with which she was "really pleased."

Geraldine McEwan, starring as Miss Marple, encounters another glittering cast in The Moving Finger. Her co-stars include Kelly Brook (Smallville), Emilia Fox (The Virgin Queen, Henry VIII), Jessica Stevenson (Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Shaun of the Dead), John Sessions (The Lost Prince, Gormenghast), James D'Arcy (Master and Commander), Sean Pertwee (Cadfael, Goal!), Frances De La Tour (Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire), Thelma Barlow (David Copperfield, Mrs. Henderson Presents), Talulah Riley (Pride and Prejudice) and comedian Harry Enfield. In addition, the film features a special guest appearance by film director Ken Russell (The Devils, Women In Love).
