Mystery's intrepid 12th-century monk returns to PBS this summer in five, 90-minute mystifications. Set in the medieval Benedictine abbey of Shrewsbury (impeccably recreated in Hungary, where the series was filmed), and based on the best-selling novels by Ellis Peters, the Cadfael series offers a fresh mix of costume drama, Middle Ages spirituality, and classic whodunit mystery -- and, of course, the gracious acting of Sir Derek Jacobi in the title role.
