Ben Turner (Paul McGann) runs a second-hand bookshop in a lovely English village, lives in a bed-and-breakfast run by his devoted wife, and has a perfect 7-year-old daughter. But the cracks in this idyllic world begin to show the day a local girl is murdered and the enigmatic Rachel Monroe (Amanda Burton) appears. Rachel is convinced that Ben is the killer of her daughter who died 20 years earlier. She confronts him and demands to know where the body is -- or else.
Episode 1

Ben Turner (Paul McGann) is stalked by Rachel Monroe (Amanda Burton), who believes he is really Peter Baxter, the convicted killer of her daughter who died 20 years earlier, though her body was never found. When Rachel confronts Ben, he admits the truth but insists he was framed. Coincidentally, an eerily similar murder has just occurred in Ben's town.

Drawn to town by the new child murder case, retired policeman Dexter Alan (Ian Hogg) runs into Rachel (Amanda Burton), whose daughter's killer -- Peter Baxter -- he put behind bars 20 years earlier. Tortured by guilt, Dexter confesses that he framed Baxter. Rachel then reveals that Baxter is actually Ben (Paul McGann), who lives nearby under a new identity. Evidence points to him as the recent child slayer.

Though Ben (Paul McGann) is the prime suspect for the latest child killing, Dexter (Ian Hogg) begins to suspect that Rachel (Amanda Burton) is the real killer. Acting increasingly psychotic, she may have been trying to set up Ben to pressure him into revealing the location of her child's body, which has been missing for 20 years. Blackmail is definitely in her line. But is murder? And why has Ben's daughter suddenly gone missing?
