Hampson is desperate for Cordelia to find proof of her husband's infidelities. Julia Hampson (Gemma Jones) hires Cordelia (Helen Baxendale) to expose the infidelities of her husband and business partner, Andrew (Leigh Lawson). Cordelia poses as a new staffer at the Hampson's swanky country inn -- and finds herself drawn to the man she was hired to investigate. She quickly discovers Andrew may be more sinned against than sinner, as Julia is having an affair of her own, with the inn's resident carpenter, Peter Forbes (Andrew Bicknell).

Originally aired Thursday, June 29, 2000.

With so little to go on, and finding herself increasingly attracted to her mark, Cordelia (Helen Baxendale) decides to drop the case, until Peter Forbes (Andrew Bicknell) is found murdered -- and Julia Hampson (Gemma Jones), Cordelia's employer and Forbes's lover, is arrested for the crime. A series of startling revelations about the Hampson clan leads Cordelia to a final, emotionally charged confrontation -- a last embrace with a murderer.
