By the Pricking of My Thumbs Airing Sundays, June 18 + 25, 2006 on PBS (Check local listings; dates and times may vary) In a new take on the classic tale, Miss Marple joins fellow Agatha Christie super sleuths Tommy and Tuppence Beresford to investigate the disappearances of two nursing home residents and the unsolved mystery of a murdered child. When Tommy and Tuppence visit an elderly aunt in Sunny Ridge nursing home, Tuppence is concerned by one resident -- Mrs. Lancaster's -- ramblings about a dead child behind the lounge fireplace. Soon after, Aunt Ada dies and Mrs. Lancaster disappears in the same evening. Tuppence suspects that an old painting of 'The Witch's House' and a warning note recovered from Ada's room reveal clues to both women's unexpected departures. When Tuppence is introduced to one resident's friend -- a sharp-minded old lady named Miss Marple -- she finds herself joining forces with her to follow the clues which lead them to the Norfolk village of Farrell St Edmund. There they find a community guarding a number of deadly secrets - from the devastating cost of unrequited love to the unsolved mystery of a murdered child. Anthony Andrews (Brideshead Revisited, The Scarlet Pimpernel) and Greta Scacchi (The Player, Flightplan) play the Beresfords, the married couple who share Miss Marple's thirst for crime-solving. They are joined by Charles Dance (Bleak House, The Jewel In The Crown), Clare Holman (Prime Suspect 6, Inspector Morse), Michael Maloney (Hamlet, The Forsyte Saga) and Claire Bloom (Brideshead Revisited, Shadowlands).
