Desktop Diaries: Oliver Sacks

A few years ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing Oliver Sacks about his desk trinkets. He was the first subject in our series of Desktop Diaries–profiles of leading scientists about their life and work, through the lens of what objects they keep nearby. Dr. Sacks has a rich desk ecology: we had plenty to catalog, including a beautiful collection of metals — some of which you’ll see in the video.

Flora Lichtman

    Flora Lichtman is Science Friday’s correspondent and managing editor of video, where she makes videos for the web and chats about them on the radio. She’s the co-author of “Annoying: The Science Of What Bugs Us” (Wiley, 2011) and writes regularly for Popular Science magazine. Before coming to Science Friday, Flora worked at a NATO oceanographic lab in Italy. She graduated from Yale University with a degree in Environmental Studies.
