overview of base camp with tents labeled

Base Camp Overview | Kitchen Tent | Dining Tent | 7-11 | Out and About

"We wake up before the sun hits the tent. I always have a radio in my tent because we get calls in the morning from the team on the mountain. They tell us what's going to happen up there that day: what camp they're moving to, how people are feeling. Morning tea usually arrives by then. Our cook, Chungba brings it to our tents. We then get up and have breakfast. There's really a lot of time on our hands. It's kind of a waiting game, waiting for the next radio call. It's a pretty quiet time at Base Camp actually."—Paula Viesturs

Paula Viesturs Base Camp is the domain of Base Camp manager, Paula Viesturs, Ed's wife. If she's not cooking up a storm in the kitchen tent, she's in the dining tent radioing the climbers on the mountain. Join us as she takes us on a virtual tour of camp.
