The excavation team came upon two coils of brass wire in the aft hold, resting atop a small gunpowder cask. Each coil was about 18 inches in diameter and contained a single piece of wire coiled around dozens of times. Just as today, wire had many uses for a colonist thousands of miles from the nearest hardware supply.
