Weapons Control Panel To fire a torpedo or missile, a series of calculations must be made. The target's range, course, and speed must be processed, and the area must be checked for possible neutral targets. When an ADCAP (Advanced Capability) torpedo is fired, it is guided by computers. Unless a malfunction occurs, the operator's help becomes unnecessary. Diagram reprinted from Tom Clancy's Submarine: A Guided Tour Inside a Nuclear Warship, Laura Deninno, Series Illustrator. |
