Real Jurassic Park, The

Ideas from Teachers

(Gr. 6-8)
I show my students NOVA's "The Real Jurassic Park" program and then have them write a proposal for their own dinosaur theme park.

Students decide what types of materials they would need, what types of dinosaurs they would raise, how they would maintain the park and control the crowds, and how they would raise the necessary funds.

I have students draw a layout of their park. They need to plan to hire staff and to solve potential problems, such as what they would do if dinosaurs escaped, if they had electrical failures, or if they were hit by storms. The best park is put on display, and the team members present their proposal to the entire class.
