Objective

To gain as much knowledge about the Romanov family, Anna Anderson, and the circumstances surrounding the claims made by Anna Anderson as possible.

Materials

• World History textbook
• NOVA's "Anastasia: Dead or Alive?" program
• HBO Studios' "Rasputin" video
• various Web sites listed in my WebQuest

Procedure

Show the HBO "Rasputin" video before the students begin working on the WebQuest. Have students use the WebQuest to do group work and individual work to prove Anna Anderson's claim of being the lost princess, Anastasia Romanov.

To complete the WebQuest, have students make a Romanov family tree, write journals, complete a map, write character sketches, write a fact-finding paper, write a petition, and a final paper. To wrap up the activity, show NOVA's "Anastasia: Dead or Alive?" program.
