Coma

Ideas from Teachers

(K-4)
I teach grades K-4 in a gifted program. Next semester we will study the brain. I plan on using this NOVA Online's "Coma" Web site in several ways. The diagrams of the brain are excellent and easy to understand for elementary age students. I will also use the activity with the golf ball and the pencil so that the students can have a good representation of the brain parts. This Web site will be a good springboard to discuss career options with my students. We will be visiting a neurosurgeon (a student's parent) during our study and it will be beneficial to have seen the work that others in the field have been involved with. We also do research and each student picks an area of brain study they are interested in. As I develop lesson plans more closely related to this site, I will post them.
