I use the example of bowerbird art from NOVA's "Flying Casanovas" program with my senior history and humanities class. I prompt reactions to elephant art without revealing the "artist" and discuss the meaning and origin of art. I draw examples from internet sources, NOVA, and particularly from the ideas of Jared Diamond's book, The Third Chimpanzee, Chapter 9, "Animal Origins of Art."
