Before Watching
Ask students what they know about the potential dangers and physiological
challenges of mountain climbing. What conditions (such as terrain,
temperature, air pressure, oxygen level, and weather) might climbers face? What
types of stresses might climbers' bodies encounter in response to these
conditions? As they watch, have students look for the dangers and
physiological challenges encountered by the NOVA team.
After Watching
Review the dangers faced by the climbers. Which ones seemed most life-threatening?
