Pulling Cs and Gs
You may think you have nothing in common with the kinds of forces a
fighter pilot experiences. But you may be wrong. Consider this:
You're in the passenger seat of a friend's car and on an important mission: Buy
a gallon of skim milk and return by dinnertime. Everything seems to be going
fine until your friend realizes she's almost missed the turn-off. Suddenly, she
veers sharply left. The tires screech, a dog barks, and the car just barely
makes the turn. In all this commotion, what happens to you?
- I'm thrown left.
- I'm thrown right.
- I'm not thrown anywhere.
- I get out and find a new friend to drive me around.
