Live Chat 3 p.m. ET: What Really Happened at MF Global?

In the wake of MF Global’s spectacular collapse, more than a billion dollars of customer funds remain unaccounted for. While investigations continue, much of it may never be recovered. The career and reputation of its CEO Jon Corzine will be forever stained.

What really happened inside the firm? How was Corzine allowed to make such a huge, risky bet — especially so soon after the financial crisis? Where were the regulators? Could anyone go to jail? And perhaps most importantly — what can we learn from this catastrophe?

We’ve asked the film’s correspondent Martin Smith to join us to discuss these questions, and take yours.

He’ll be joined by guest questioner and resident expert Aaron Lucchetti, a veteran reporter at The Wall Street Journal covering banking and finance who helped break the MF Global story. You can follow him on Twitter @aaronlucchetti.

You can leave a question in the chat window below, and come by at 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 23 to join the live discussion.
