"From Jesus to Christ - the First
Christians" explores the life of Jesus
and the movement he started, drawing on
new and controversial historical
evidence which challenges familiar
assumptions. For example, Galilee was
not a bucolic backwater; it was on the
edge of a thriving, prosperous
metropolis. And Christianity did not
arise as a single, uniform movement.
From the beginning it was fraught with
conflict, as early Christians wrestled
with their Jewish heritage, collided
with paganism, challenged the authority
of the Roman Empire and clashed with
each other.
