After decades of negotiation and conflict, America is still involved in the Middle East. But has our military presence—and the hundred of billions of dollars in aid—improved the situation? Some say the US has played a protective role, keeping terrorist groups in check. Others say our intervention only exasperated the region’s problems and ironically decreased our own security.
