Uncle Matty Q+A
Question:
I have a new puppy and I want to start off on the right foot. She needs to know I am the most important thing in her life. How do I make sure my dog is bonded to me?

Answer:
There really isn't any one-step for bonding with your new dog. There are a number of things you can do to help build a good relationship with your pet just as there certain things to help build a good relationship with a friend or special person.

Here are a few simple things, when done with care and affection, will combine to make you and your dog inseparable. First the obvious ones, feeding, bathing and walking your dog. Do not take these activities for granted, they are important. Other activities include, playing with her, working with her to follow basic obedience commands and exercising outdoors. If you develop a consistent routine of activity, the two of you will do some serious bonding.

One more thing. You should always use a friendly, positive tone of voice when interacting with your dog.
