Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue

Established in 1985, YGRR is a voluntary nonprofit charitable organization which is dedicated to providing veterinary care, comprehensive evaluation and adoptive homes to Golden Retrievers who are abandoned, mistreated, neglected or left in pounds throughout New England. Rescue services are also provided to Goldens in acute need of placement due to compelling family circumstances. In addition to services for hundreds of young, healthy Goldens, YGRR is proud of its program of care for senior Goldens and Goldens with special medical needs. Since its founding, YGRR has provided rescue services to more than 2200 Goldens. The organization relies on membership dues, donations and fund-raising activities for its income.

Sue McDonough

Testimonial

"Hi. I'm Sue McDonough and this is my dog Alex, and we adopted him when he was five. He was abandoned because he had gone blind from retinitis. And we were somewhat hesitant beause we thought, 'special needs dog -- how can we manage that?' We have a very, very busy household. We were somewhat insecure that we could care for him. Well, he's seemed to be the best thing we've ever done. He's a joy. He's added such a dimension to our life, and the only limitation that he has in the ones we place on him. He is courageous, open, runs on the beach, runs in fields, and chases balls, and we just love him. He's wonderful, and it's the best thing we ever did."
