My father said his father's family were never slaves and were mixed with Shinnecock Indian ancestry. The NY Historical Society exhibit, Slavery in NY, displays a list of jurors in 1819 that includes my father's great-grandfather's name. The source of the list of jurors is the NYC Municipal Archives.
