Mother Greenwood, Mississippi 1900s Greenwood, Mississippi

I know that one of my great grandmother's was named Melissa McClung. She got her last name from a Cherokee Indian she married named Porter McClung. Melissa was fully African. Porter was fully Cherokee. This story is on my grandfather's side.

There is said to be a photograph of Melissa. She is said to have very dark and beautiful skin and jet black hair. Porter was said to have beautiful skin also, and the long and lustrous hair of Indians.

From my grandmother's side I know that my other great grandmother's name was Elizabeth and that she was a Creole Indian.
