We , the Allen family were told that our grandfather had a brother whose name was Jackson. Our grandfather was born in 1859 and died in 1931. We heard that he had a brother who was a few years older than he. After slavery ended the older brother left the plantation or farm and went out on his own. The younger brother Boston stayed with thw family he was with because he had some type of disabilkity concerning his foot. We were also told that great grandad was a shoemaker. We do not know if Jackson 's last name changed after slavery.My grandad went on to have 9 children and they in turn had large families, one of the grandson's having 13 children and one having 9 and so on. What if there is a brother somewhere who has a large family also. There would be many, many, cousins that we do not know about. We have large reunions now. This would be great if we could really fingd out if grat granddad had other brothers and sisters. We believe that great grandad came to South Carolina from maybe another state. We can trace him back to 1880 at age 21 on the census.
