Mother and older cousins Jefferson County, MS. ,Branywine , Mcbride 1880s McBride,MS. I heard the story from older relatives.

My maternal great-great granmother was brought from Virginia to New Orleans and sold as a slave to Heziah Short and then brought to Mississippi. She had about ten children with surnames of short, Houston and Butler. She was a mulato woman who served as a midwife for both Black and White. I am not aware of the children fathers names. She lived to be about 110.
