1. My G.G.Gfather Jake Vandross fought in the Civil War. He is buried in Beaufort Nat'l Cemetary in Beaufort S.C. Oral Tradition says we are direct relatives to Luther Vandross, his father died and other family members died, ties to the Vandross family were severed. We were unable to verify this information before he died.

2.My mother and GAunt are both named Pocahontas and oral tradition from my (M)Gfather, says that his Grandmother "married off the reservation". My mother's family is from a community called Indian Woods in Windsor, NC. It was said to be indian reservation at one time and home to the Tuscarora Indians.
