My father was born during 1890 in Silas City North Caroline. He listed in the Army( World War 1). He did not finished school but he was a very intelligent man. He told me when a Black person enlisted in the military. They had two jobs to pick from. Jobs were to become a cook or clean toilets, so he became a cook. He was an outstanding cook. He taught me a lot.
