The name "Taylor Town" was derived from two brothers, Albert and Henry Taylor. They each owned several acres of land in Abbeville County west of Abbeville City Limits. Albert and Henry both got their "40 acres" (we don't know about the mule)...and they were very prosperous farmers. The brothers owned horses, mules, cows, and chickens. Taylor Town Road was where the brothers walked the road, drove their buggies and wagons and used kerosene lamps, lanterns, and candles in their homes. Henry Taylor had 12 children (2 boys and 10 girls). Of the 12, we know of 7 that went on to college including my grandmother, Ella Olivia Taylor who graduated from Allen University in 1911 and met my grandfather Tillman Benjamin Buggs who also graduated from Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. The 7 that are college graduates also have at least two generations of them that have gone on to be professors, lawyers, judges, throughout the country.
