Her name is Nancy Green. Over the years we were told by our aunts that she was a Native American and that's how we ended up having Indian heritage. My folks (all deceased) were Southern Baptists. I think they knew Ms. Green was a black surrogate slave who bore children for my multiple great grandfather but never revealed it to us because to them it was extremely embarrassing.
