East Africa's Great Lakes region contains a broad patchwork of peoples and traditions, all influenced by their green, fertile surroundings. The customs of both nomads constantly on the move for game and more settled groups who live off the land and the lakes have made an imprint here. Some of Africa's most famous weaving and body art come from this region.
