I would have to say that I learned more about African American history in the last five years than I did in all my years prior to that. What I had learned, I garnered pretty much from my years in school and a bit here and there from my mom and dad. A picture of my great grandmother that I saw in my youth and the birth of my children were the catalysts needed to get me looking deeper into my own family history. As I started to do the research and digging up stories, I wanted to create a way to document my findings and share them with my kids, as well as, the rest of the family and so I began a blog. My blog, “How Did I Get Here? My Amazing Genealogy Journey,” has been such a gift. My education continues with each passing day! http://howdidigetheremygenealogyjourney.blogspot.
