Paula Corley

,

I learned from my parents. My father, Averitte W. Corley, taught me about our family from generation to generation. He places great value on the knowledge of history and accurate facts of contributors from “all over the world.” I am quite proud to say my father is an original Montford Point Marine and Congressional Gold Medal recipient. He is one of the first black US Marines to serve in WWII in the Pacific (1942-1949). He greatly admires the dedicated efforts and research of Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr.! I purchased the book, “African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross,” and it came today. He hasn’t closed that book all day!! I am extremely blessed to be in his midst and learn “his” history! Thank you for your inspiration! All the best to you!
