Aida - Giuseppe Verdi - 1871

The soldier Radamès, appointed to lead the armies of Egypt against the attacking Ethiopian army, hopes for triumph so he can free his girlfriend Aida from servitude to the Princess of Egypt. What he doesn't know is that his girlfriend is actually the daughter of the Ethiopian king, and that her Egyptian princess boss is also in love with him. The pressures on Aida are intense as both her father and the princess scheme, for different reasons, to force her to betray her boyfriend and lure him into a trap. Eventually she succumbs and Radamès is condemned to be buried alive in a crypt. Aida hides inside the tomb, awaiting her love, and the two are sealed in for eternity.
