[REPORT] Detroit Green City

Signaling a move to “green” Detroit, the City Council approved a resolution in 2007 to create a citywide Green Task Force to advise on energy efficient and environmentally sustainable principles and practices to better serve the community. All of the following groups either led to or are the result of Detroit’s Green Task Force. In a city often depicted as a wasteland, these projects show the promise of transforming Detroit Motor City to Detroit Green City.

I caught a few minutes of this show, Detroit Green City, on UNC-TV in North Carolina and was immediately impressed and inspired. It is so awesome to see the city of Detroit changing things in their community in order to provide a better life, opportunity, self-sufficiency,and greater pride. I am doubly impressed by corporations with their investments in the future of Detroit. As a student of social work, it reinforces my faith in humanity and my belief in what we can accomplish together. This makes me want to take a trip to Detroit to learn some new things. This is great work.
    Sincerely,
    Nalda Rodriguez
