Paul Hunt is a laborer from Manchester, England. On the Colony he was a servant to the Governor and his family. Paul worked loyally alongside the other servants in the house, endlessly chopping wood, fetching water, and taking care of the pigs.

"The hardest challenge was being away from friends and family, and having no contact. Also, dealing with the diet in the first month was tough due to my having to visit the good old woods six times a day and trying to work 15 hours of hard labor on a bowl of peas that stays in your system for all of five minutes. That was hard going! I learnt more about religion, history, appreciation and understanding of people and my own life and personality than I ever thought I would, and consider myself very lucky to experience what I did."

Originally from the North West of England, Paul apprenticed as a joiner, but soon grew restless with village life. He became one of the thousands of "masterless men" who wandered the English countryside, in search of opportunities and adventures. An ambitious and energetic man, he was drawn to Bristol where he successfully tried a number of jobs, from working in a bakery to selling goods in the market. When he heard of the Colony, he jumped at the opportunity for a new challenge. He sought out the Wyers at the Bristol docks and talked his way into the Colony, as their indentured servant.
