To bring about change in education by implementing comprehensive arts education programs through advocacy, curriculum development and professional training. SCEA offers intensive professional development programs to help administrators, arts specialists, classroom teachers, artists, and parents understand the nature of art, dance, music, and theatre as they discover exciting ways to integrate the arts into the curriculum.

Partnerships and interactive technology will be integral factors in research, writing, teaching and consulting. Summer institutes will continue to provide introductions to comprehensive arts education and advanced work in multi-arts education and arts. Video, CD-ROMs, distance learning and web-based instruction will be used to communicate with wide-ranging audiences.

The Center's directors are currently designing the course of study for a new arts education series of television programs and accompanying Internet sites being developed by the Annenberg/CPB Channel. The Center received the Children's Theatre Foundation of American Medallion of Excellence in 1997, and the Regional Designation Award in the Arts from the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games in 1994 and 1995.
